Most of the time when working in a field that provides care and assistance to others in time of need or medical emergency, most people welcome the assistance. There are times when trying to that job you encounter someone that is upset, angry, emotional, agitated or physically aggressive. When this occurs it creates very difficult and dangerous working conditions. Having the skills and abilities to deal with the situation so that you may accomplish your level of service is the goal of this training. Some of the topics include; identifying potential hazards, understanding the organizational goal/mission, verbal deescalation, physical control techniques and leverage, control holds, application of restraints, liability reduction, policy and procedures.
Target Audience: Health care professionals, caretakers, senior care providers, hospital security, firefighters, paramedics and emergency room personnel.
Prerequisites: None.
Equipment: Equipment will be determined by the training host specific to the environment they work in. (i.e., medical bed, backboard, gurney, wheelchair, etc.)
